A Blog About Blogs

That sounds a bit like a Jerry Seinfeld wisecrack ("A show about nothing") but the whole nature of blogs begs some discussion and exploration apart from the content that I trust will soon populate this space-particularly the ideas that come from you. The best form of communications is a dialogue, an exchange, a process of mutual debate and exploration that, even if it does not result in a shared view, helps us appreciate each other and our different views. A mind once stretched rarely returns to its former dimensions. Absent the physical forum where this process can be conducted (golf course, corner bar, back porch or a slow elevator), I trust this blog can be a great place to gather or drop in for a bit to share some views on the art and practice of communications. Fairly frequently, I will comment on or pose examples I see in the world of business, society and (careful here...) politics where the communications (good or bad) actually shaped the outcome. Of course, this notion of defining moments is the passion behind my work, and I hope you can share what you see as pinnacles of the craft-or its decidedly lesser forms. I try not to be easily flattered nor easily offended, so I also hope we can have at it a bit in this setting. One of the merits and demerits of a blog is that, since we are only talking one at a time and in relative isolation, our comments sometimes are neither tailored nor tempered by whether the reader is clenching their fist at our words or saluting us. For my sake, I welcome either. It helps sharpen what I do when I hear from those of you in the trenches of business. The button below that says "comment" is all yours. I look forward to hearing from you now and in the future.
